Monday Night Event to feature live music, silent auction, night riding and more
SOS Outreach New Zealand, a Wanaka-based youth development charity, has teamed up with the athletes and organizers of the World Heli Challenge for an evening of night riding, live music, epic backcountry video footage and a silent auction this Monday, 25 July from 5pm-9pm in the Woolshed at Snow Park.
Proceeds from the event will benefit SOS Outreach in their efforts to engage underserved youth in winter and outdoor sports-based education programmes. Tickets are available from Quest Wanaka or at the door for just $10. Snow Park will be opening the mountain for night riding. A $39 ticket buys a lift ticket and admission to the fundraiser.
The silent auction will feature a Signal snowboard, two pair of Skull Candy headphones, one night’s accommodations at Snow Park, gift certificates from Quest Wanaka, heaps (two large boxes) of Nature Valley Muesli Bars and more.
The evening festivities will include night riding, live acoustic music in the woolshed and movie footage from Warren Miller’s Wintervention as well as highlight footage from previous World Heli Challenge events.
SOS Outreach programmes build character in at-risk and underserved youth to enhance decision-making for healthy and successful life experiences. Programmes revolve around a core value curriculum that stresses Courage, Discipline, Integrity, Wisdom and Compassion. Adult mentor relationships are central to the programmes and have resulted in SOS Outreach youth participants building strong morals, self-esteem and interpersonal skills. SOS Outreach NZ partners with schools, existing youth organisations, ski areas, Regional Sports Trusts and other outdoor adventure providers to offer its programmes year-round.
