Terrain

At Snow Park we aim to build terrain for two main reasons:

1. To grow freestyle snow boarding and skiing through fun and progressive terrain that anyone who knows how to snowboard or ski can come up and have a fun day.

2. To foster the progression of freestyle snowboarding and skiing through the construction of new and innovative terrain features which allow riders to fully explore the boundaries of their own abilities.

Superpipes/ Quaterpipes

New for 2010 is the 22ft Halfpipe. Using a revolutionary cutter designed and built in New Zealand using a laser guidance system to ensure the pipe is cut to perfection everyday. Snow Park is the only halfpipe in New Zealand made of 100% man made snow. Ensuring the pipe opens early regardless of the natural snowfall.

The new shaper also allows us to cut our Quarterpipe to 22ft, Snow Park’s Quarterpipe is the only quarterpipe in the Southern Hemisphere maintained for the whole season.

Advanced

Every day the boundaries of freestyle snow sports are getting pushed and moved in new and exciting directions. From our infamous triple jump line to crazy step ups, stair features and rails to the famous 120ft Mega Booter, advanced riders will be satisfied day after day at the park.

Advanced features develop and evolve as the season progresses so keep your eyes on our web site to see what new features we will be adding,  and which of the world’s top riders will be throwing themselves around and pushing the limits of freestyle skiing and snowboarding.

From the pristine superpipe to the jibs that often evolve around the lift line, Snow Park intermediate terrain is enjoyed by all who frequent Snow Park. Even on their first day some will progress to try some of the boxes and rails set up on bigger spines and with more technical transitions.

Intermediate

From the pristine superpipe to the jibs that often evolve around the lift line, Snow Parks intermediate terrain is enjoyed by all who frequent the Park. Even on their first day some will progress to try some of the boxes and rails set up on bigger spines and with more technical transitions.

Our box run features several lines of progression allowing you to learn at your own pace and try tricks on boxes before progressing to rails. We also have two jumps at the base of the box run at 20ft to 30ft that are open for night riding.

The intermediate terrain is all over the resort and provides a great challenge for novice riders to step up their riding and for avid park user to expand their repertoire of tricks. One of the favorite features for all levels is the step up jump beside the Quarterpipe, it allows tricks to be attempted and landings performed with minimal impact.

Learners

There is a misconception out there that Snow Park is just for advanced riders and all the features are huge and scary. Well, that’s not true, check out our stats for novice terrain, now set aside in the all new progressions learners area. This new feature for 2010 is a rope tow and learners slope.

Our learners area will enable us to teach people how to snowboard, and progress onto the rest of the mountain. It also features 2 boxes and a small jump to show anyone how easy it is to progress to freestyle terrain. These features will also enable us to educate first time snowboarders and skiers safe lines to ride around freestyle terrain to avoid unnecessary congestion and risk to both experienced and first time skiers and snowboarders.

Snow Park NZ already has an excellent international reputation for their exciting and innovative terrain but we are not forgetting to turn attention to the growth of the sport to attract a broader mix of visitors.

With such a wide variety of terrain even our box run features a full beginners line. With three 10ft jumps and  a selection of ride on boxes the box run under lights is a fantastic first experience at Snow Park.
