New Zealand’s top junior freeskiers and snowboarders will welcome their school holidays with a spectacle of talent and showmanship, when Snow Park NZ hosts the first ever ‘Junior Slopestyle Open’. The action will take place on Snow Parks’ slopestyle run with features especially sized to suit Junior Riders.
The event has been allocated to be part of the NZ National Points Tour (see www.nzsbu.com) and a stop on new Armada Ski’s ‘Rat Bag Tour’! (www.summitcollective.co.nz)
DATES: 13th Armada Freeski Slopestyle, 14th Rossignol Snowboard Slopestyle, 15th Contingency Day. AGE GROUPS (Date of birth is calculated from Jan 1): Grommets (9 and under= born 2001 or later), Youth (10 – 13 = born 2000 – 1997), Juniors (14 – 16 = born 1996 – 1994)
A fun jam style event open for all ages. The only Hip event on the calendar makes it a big draw card. Electric aims to make everyone welcome and works with the fun atmosphere of Snow Park to create a one of a kind event.
Junior World Championships
Held in two sessions this is the first time Slopestyle has been included in the World Juniors. The World Juniors will feature the best talent from around the world competing on Snow Parks world class slopestyle course.
Uni Games
All universities in New Zealand converge on Snow Park for Halfpipe, Slopestyle and Big Air. This is a great event with participation as one of the key elements and features everyone from some of the best snowboarders in New Zealand to a large contingent of competitors having a great time! Its a fantastic spectacle.
Billabong Bro Down
Held over two days the Billabong Bro down features day one as a rail jam and day two as a big air competition. Both days are designed with both the Snowboarder and spectator in mind. During the comp there are DJ’s playing and plenty of action both on and off the hill. Both events are held right in front of the Woolshed Restaurant and Bar and feature some of the best Snowboarders from around the world.
Maori Downhill
Hosted by NZsnowboard.com’s Robett Hollis. It is part of our closing day festivities and involves a race down the whole mountain, including a run and a cool beer at the finish line.
